New Delhi, India, February 2, 2025: India will send an 88-strong contingent to the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, which gets underway on Friday, February 7.
The squad will comprise of 59 athletes and 29 officials, the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced last Friday, January 31.
India will compete in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, short-track speed skating, speed skating and ice hockey (men’s).
The Ministry said in a statement: “This is the first occasion where the Government of India has formally extended financial support for the country’s participation at the Asian Winter Games.”
The 23-member men’s ice hockey team, however, has been cleared on a no-cost-to-government basis.
