Swim king Schooling urges social responsibility

Singapore, March 30, 2020: One of Asia’s leading athletes, Joseph Schooling, has taken to social media to urge people to stay at home and avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

The 24-year-old Singaporean swimmer, who won Olympic gold in the men’s 100m butterfly at Rio 2016, posted in his Facebook account: “Stay Home and stay safe everyone. By working together and being socially responsible, we can beat this virus. #SGunited.”

Schooling has also won three gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals at the Asian Games in 2014 and 2018, with two of those gold medals coming at Jakarta in 2018 amidst the duopoly of Japan and China.

His Facebook account @josephisaacschooling has almost 800,000 followers, and his Monday morning post had attracted over 1,400 Likes within two hours.
