Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, January 30, 2025: The United Arab Emirates Ju-Jitsu Federation has announced that 85 Emirati athletes will take part in the 2025 Asian Ju-Jitsu Youth Championship and the 2025 Asian Ju-Jitsu Cup (U14) in Bangkok, Thailand from February 13-15.

The Emirati delegation will include 20 athletes competing in the under-14 division and 65 athletes in youth categories.

Ju-Jitsu is one of the most popular sports in the UAE. Last December, the Olympic Council of Asia in collaboration with the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union held a ground-breaking development camp for coaches and referees at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy in Abu Dhabi.

A total of 123 participants from 36 Asian National Olympic Committees attended the five-day camp in Abu Dhabi, the home and hotbed of ju-jitsu in Asia.

In 2024, Abu Dhabi hosted the Asian Ju-Jitsu Youth Championship, where the UAE national team excelled with an impressive haul of 41 medals, including 11 gold, eight silver and 22 bronze.

Fahad Ali Al-Shamsi, secretary general of the UAE federation, said: “The Asian Ju-Jitsu Youth Championship is one of the most prestigious events we participate in every year, showcasing the UAE’s leadership in sport across the continent. It also provides a key platform to evaluate the progress of our youth athletes and their readiness to excel on the global stage.”

Pedro Damasceno, UAE national team coach, said: “We have carefully assembled a strong team, blending experienced athletes with fresh talent. The athletes are showing great confidence and dedication, and we are looking forward to seeing them shine on the continental stage once again.”
