Hong Kong NOC President joins video call with IOC President

Hong Kong, China, March 30, 2020: The President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Timothy Fok, joined a video conference on March 27 with the President of International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

Other participants included representatives of the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, Olympic Council of Asia and National Olympic Committees.

The IOC President gave an update on the latest progress of the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. IOC representatives also gave updates on the following:

*First, those athletes who have already qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games shall remain qualified. 

*Also, the IOC has formed a Task Force to follow up various matters related to the postponement of the Games. 

*The IOC hopes to confirm the Games period in 2021 and the qualification procedure for the remaining around 43% quota within the next three weeks.

In the meantime, SF&OC will continue to communicate closely with the IOC and will update National Sports Associations and athletes for their smooth participation to the Games.
