POC President Tolentino named Executive of the Year

Manila, Philippines, January 28, 2025: The President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, has received a top award from the Philippine Sportswriters Association.

 

Tolentino was named Executive of the Year at the PSA Awards at the iconic Manila Hotel on Monday, January 27.

 

“Congratulations to POC President Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino for being named Executive of the Year at the 2024 PSA Awards for his hands-on leadership in guiding Team Philippines to success at the Paris Olympic Games,” the Philippine Olympic Committee posted.

 

Tolentino commented: “Truly honored to receive the Sports Executive of the Year award for the third time at the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Annual Awards Night. 

 

“It’s a privilege to stand alongside the outstanding sportsmen and women, and fellow awardees who continue to raise the bar in Philippine sports. 

 

“Thank you to the Philippine Sportswriters Association for this recognition. Together, we continue to build a legacy of excellence in sports.”

 

The Philippines’ double gold medallist at the Paris Olympics, gymnast Carlos Yulo, was named Athlete of the Year.

 

The government’s sports agency, the Philippine Sports Commission, commended the efforts of the PSA for consistently emphasizing the journey and achievements of the Filipino athletes in shaping the success of the country.

 

Olympians, Paralympians, rising stars and professional athletes also took centre stage and were honored for their remarkable contributions to Philippine sports.
