Asian Kickboxing Confederation President visits Iran’s Sports Minister

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, January 27, 2025: Dr. Nasser Nassiri, President of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation and President of the Iran Kickboxing Association (WAKO IRAN), met with Dr. Ahmad Donyamali, Minister of Sports and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

 

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Sports and Youth to discuss the current situation of kickboxing and its development within Asia.

 

Dr. Nassiri provided an overview of the status of kickboxing both globally and within the Asian continent and shared further insights into its growth and international recognition, including the recognition of kickboxing by the OCA in 2005.

 

Dr. Nassiri elaborated on the extensive efforts made by the Asian Kickboxing Confederation and its national members to promote and develop the sport. He emphasized the importance of these initiatives in enhancing kickboxing's visibility and participation across the continent.

 

In this meeting, which was also attended by members of the Board of Directors of WAKO IRAN, the Asian Kickboxing Confederation President presented the criteria and methods for attracting, training and promoting members of this sport. It was noted that Iran has many enthusiastic athletes and officials who enable Iran to participate on the international stage.

 

Dr. Ahmad Donyamali shared his thoughts and provided recommendations on how to further develop kickboxing in Asia and Iran. His suggestions focused on identifying opportunities and implementing effective methods to enhance the sport's growth and popularity.

 

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding of the current and future potential of kickboxing in Asia. Both Dr. Nassiri and Dr. Donyamali expressed their commitment to working together to support the continued growth and success of the sport in the region.

 

The Honorable Minister said that the leadership of WAKO IRAN would continue their efforts to obtain the best and highest positions in international competitions in Asia and the world.
