Discussions also focused on the IOC Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal in 2026, and how to qualify athletes through the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.

The hybrid meeting, held in-person and on-line, involved representatives from athletics, swimming, fencing, taekwondo, judo, table tennis, tennis, basketball, weightlifting, wrestling, karate and kickboxing and focused on the number of athletes taking part and preparations.

Secretary General Al-Ahjri confirmed that the purpose of the meeting was to listen to the opinions of the technical committee and the national associations regarding their participation and technical aspects, pointing out that participation in each event depended on the funding available.

It was also decided that athletes selected for any of the games would attend an intensive, two-week training camp in Sana’a to complete preparations.
