Astana, Kazakhstan, January 15, 2025: The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, has expressed hope for the successful performance of national athletes at the Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025.
At a Government meeting on Tuesday, January 14, Prime Minister Bektenov dwelled on the proud record of Kazakhstan athletes at the Winter Olympics, and hoped the current generation would also deliver.
“I hope our athletes will carry on those glorious traditions and perform successfully at the upcoming games in Harbin,” the Kazakh Prime Minister was quoted as saying by Kazinform News Agency.
Kazakhstan boasts numerous achievements in winter sports. These include Vladimir Smirnov, Olympic gold medallist in cross-country skiing in 1994; Lyudmila Prokasheva, bronze medallist in speed skating in 1998; Elena Khrustaleva, silver medallist in biathlon in 2010; Denis Ten, bronze medallist in figure skating in 2014; and Yulia Galysheva, bronze medallist in freestyle skiing in 2018.
The Prime Minister instructed ministries and all other relevant bodies, including the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee, to create all the necessary conditions to ensure the successful performance of the national team in China, as well as looking ahead to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy.
