Bangkok, Thailand, January 15, 2025: The South East Asian Games Federation has confirmed the final sports programme for the 33rd SEA Games to be held in Thailand this December.
In a letter to the member National Olympic Committees of the SEA Games Federation, Dato’ Seri Chaiyapak Siriwat, Chief Operations Officer of the SEAGF Office, provides details of the sports, disciplines and events.
“In follow-up to the South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) joint (hybrid) meeting held on 21 December, 2024, please find attached the final list of 50 medal sports with 574 events, plus three demonstration sports with 12 events,” he writes.
“Thank you for your support and cooperation as we all work together for the success of the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025,” added Dato’ Seri Chaiyapak, who is Vice President of the SEA Games Federation.
The programme includes figure skating, short track speed skating and ice hockey, reflecting the growth of winter sports in southeast Asia due mainly to the building of ice rinks for recreation in shopping malls.
There will be 105 disciplines and 574 events – 278 for male athletes, 241 for female athletes and 55 events in mixed/open events.
The 50 sports, with disciplines where appropriate, are: Aquatics (5), Athletics, Archery (2), Badminton, Basketball (2), Canoe and Rowing (3), Cycling (4), Equestrian (4), Fencing (3), Football and Futsal (2), Golf, Gymnastics (3), Handball, Hockey (3), Judo (2), Rugby, Sailing (3), Shooting (3), Table Tennis, Taekwondo (2), Tennis, Triathlon (3), Volleyball (2), Wrestling (2), Ice Skating (2), Ice Hockey, Modern Pentathlon (3), Weightlifting, Baseball and Softball (3), Billiards and Snooker (3), Boxing, Floorball, Esports, Muay (2), Netball, Pencak Silat (2), Petanque, Sepak Takraw (5), Squash, Bowling, Extreme Sports (4), Karate (2), Ju-jitsu (3), Cricket, Wushu (2), Kabaddi, Teqball, Kickboxing (4), Woodball, Chess (2).
Demonstration Sports: Flying Disc, Tug of War, Air Sports.
The 33rd SEA Games will be held in Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla from December 9-20, 2025.
