Harbin, China, January 12, 2025: The Olympic Council of Asia took part in a working meeting with 19 Functional Areas (FAs) of the Harbin Asian Winter Games Organising Committee (HAWGOC).
This was the final working meeting between HAWGOC and the OCA ahead of the 9thAsian Winter Games, which will run from February 7-14.
The meeting took place on Friday, January 10 and was organised by the International Relations Department of HAWGOC and presided over by the department director, Mr. Gao Yueming. The OCA was represented by Mr. Ganesan Sundaram Moorthy, Manager of the OCA Sports Department.
The meeting also involved representatives from the Chinese Olympic Committee and staff members of the 19 FAs.
At the meeting, representatives from the 19 FAs provided updates on their latest preparations, including OCA Family Services, NOC Services, Arrivals and Departures, Transport, Accommodation, Food and Beverage, Medical and Anti-doping, Accreditation, Security and Ticketing.
Mr. Ganesan fully recognised Harbin’s efforts in the early stages of Games preparation and offered specific guidance on key preparation issues, supporting HAWGOC in strengthening the capabilities of each FA to ensure a successful Games and in showcasing the positive image of Harbin as the host city.
The meeting, which lasted for more than 10 hours, marked a milestone as it was the final working meeting between the OCA and HAWGOC concerning all FAs before the Games.
At the invitation of the International Relations Department of HAWGOC, Mr. Ganesan participated in the drills for Arrivals and Departures and Spectating on 8 and 9 January 2025, respectively, gaining first-hand experience of Harbin 2025.
Next, the International Relations Department will coordinate more drills for Mr. Ganesan to participate in and also organise one-on-one meetings between the OCA and relevant FAs to help them identify any shortcomings and gaps to ensure smooth Games-time operations.
