Manila, Philippines, January 9, 2025: Member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Japan registered their solidarity for gender equality within the sporting field as the Philippine Sports Commission hosted the ASEAN-Japan Action in Sports: Gender Equality Workshop in Manila.
The two-day session will determine the status of gender equality in regional sports. The aim is to outline a strategic plan and evaluation that will be utilized for making policies to further promote an equal playing field for all.
This initiative is spearheaded by the International Research on Sports and Gender Equality of Seijo University in Japan.
Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann, Comm. Walter Torres, and Comm. Olivia “Bong” Coo expressed their commitment to being at the forefront of this mission.
The workshop, hosted by the Philippine Sports Commission, opened on Wednesday, January 8 and included the official dinner.
