Ramallah, Palestine, January 8, 2025: The Chair of the OCA Gender Equity Committee, Valerie Tarazi, has described herself as “honored and excited” by her recent appointment to the Executive Office of the Palestine Olympic Committee.
The 25-year-old swimmer, who represented Palestine at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was elected to the Executive Office position as women’s sport representative at the Extraordinary General Assembly of the POC on Saturday, January 5.
The Pal Sport Network and Palestinian Swimming Federation and Aquatic Sports congratulated Valerie on her appointment.
In a social media post, Val said: “Yet again, God has blessed me! I am honored and excited to join the Executive Office of the Palestinian Olympic Committee.
“Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the future of Palestinian sports and continue breaking barriers.”
The OCA Gender Equity Committee Chair took part in the OCA Safeguarding Workshop in Bangkok on December 5 as a member of a three-strong panel under the title “Champions for Safeguarding in Sports” and has a bright future in the Olympic Movement both in and out of the pool.
