Vietnam NOC marks football success in ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup final

Hanoi, Vietnam, January 6, 2025: The Vietnam Olympic Committee is celebrating the success of its men’s national football team in the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024.

 

Vietnam beat their fierce regional rivals Thailand 5-3 on aggregate in the two-legged final after winning the second leg 3-2 at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday, January 5 in front of 47,000 fans.

 

The VOC posted a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, who described the result as “excellent”.

 

“I fervently acknowledge and appreciate the entire coaching staff and the Vietnamese national football team for their extraordinary efforts. They fought with resilience, passion and unity,” the Prime Minister said.

 

“This victory is a testament to the progress of Vietnamese football, and also a meaningful gift for the beginning of the New Year to the people of the country.

 

“My deepest gratitude to the coaching staff, support staff and teammates. Thank you to the fans, who have been side by side with the team throughout the journey to conquer the highest position in regional football.”

 

The Prime Minister concluded: “This victory is not only the pride of Vietnamese sports but also an inspiration for the entire nation, showing the desire to rise and motivate.”
