Hanoi, Vietnam, January 3, 2025: The Vietnam Olympic Committee held an evaluation and strategic planning meeting in Hanoi under the chairmanship of the VOC President and Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung.
The meeting, which took place on Thursday, January 2, served two purposes – to evaluate the results of Vietnam in the Olympic movement in 2024 and to set the direction for 2025.
Following a video presentation to review 2024, the VOC President gave a speech to the attendees, who included the Executive Committee members and representatives of national sports associations.
Priorities for the new year include the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China in February, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain in October and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December.
The VOC will focus on preparing the athletes for these major international events as well as securing funding from the government for delegates to attend conferences, host farewell ceremonies and pay bonuses for medal-winning athletes.
Other priorities in 2025 will be Olympic Day projects in five provinces, community “Sport for All” events, sports management courses for administrators and technical courses for coaches in several sports including table tennis, cycling, athletics, volleyball and tennis, as well as life-saving and drowning prevention instruction for children.
The sports authorities in Vietnam will also continue to promote exchange and cooperation with international sports organisations and National Olympic Committees around the world.
