Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, December 22, 2024: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, chaired the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association Executive Board meeting and 13th General Assembly in Tirana, Albania, on December 18.
Prince Abdulaziz, who is the President of the ISSA, thanked the Republic of Albania’s leaders, its people and the Albanian National Olympic Committee led by President Fidel Ylli for hosting the meetings.
“Sports in the member states have seen significant progress, as evidenced by Islamic countries’ athletes securing 84 diverse medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, alongside the outstanding performance of athletes from Palestine,” Prince Abdulaziz noted.
“Next year, 2025, we will celebrate 20 years since the launch of the first Islamic Games in 2005, as Riyadh hosts the sixth edition of this cherished tournament,” he added.
The ISSA President disclosed that the 2025 event would feature 19 sports across four venues, including three Paralympic events.
SOPC Vice President and ISSA Board member Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed presented the Kingdom’s plans to host the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games highlighting the comprehensive logistical services provided from transportation and accommodation to medical and technology.
