Kuwait City, Kuwait, December 9, 2024: The Olympic Council of Asia will conduct an election for one position on the OCA Athletes’ Committee during the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, from February 7-14, 2025.

In a letter dated Sunday, December 8 and addressed to Presidents and Secretary Generals of Asian National Olympic Committees, Vinod Kumar Tiwari, OCA Deputy Director General, said the one position on the OCA Athletes’ Committee would specifically represent an athlete from winter sports.

“We seek your assistance in informing your athletes who will be participating in the Harbin Winter Games about this important election,” Vinod Tiwari stated.

"It is crucial to have strong representation from winter sports on our committee to ensure their unique perspectives and needs are addressed.”

The OCA Deputy Director General added: “Athletes from your NOC who participated in the previous two editions of the Asian Winter Games are also eligible to stand for these positions, provided they have competed in a Winter Olympic sport discipline.”

The previous two Asian Winter Games were the 8th AWG in Sapporo, Japan in 2017 and the 7th AWG in Almaty and Astana, Kazakhstan in 2011.

The OCA Athletes’ Committee election manual, a candidature proposal form and election and campaign guidelines were also sent to all NOCs.

The last date of submitting nominations is January 10, 2025.

“We eagerly anticipate the election of our new winter sport athlete representative on the already diverse and dynamic Athletes’ Committee of the OCA,” Mr. Tiwari added.

NOCs have been asked to contact Jamyang Namgyal, manager, Athletes Department, OCA for any queries on jamyang@oca.asia.
