Astana, Kazakhstan, December 3, 2024: Gennadiy Golovkin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, participated in his first meeting of the International Olympic Committee Olympism365 Commission.

The online meeting saw the participation of Commission members from around the world including IOC presidential candidates HRH Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein of Jordan and Lord Sebastian Coe, President of World Athletics.

The Kazakhstan NOC President was appointed to the Olympism365 Commission by IOC President Thomas Bach in May 2024. Bach introduced Golovkin to the Commission members and wished him success in his new role.

Golovkin said: “It is crucial for Kazakhstan to be part of international projects like Olympism365. This opens new opportunities to integrate sport into solving social and economic challenges while promoting Olympic values in our country.”

Olympism365 is a strategic IOC initiative aimed at strengthening the role of sports and Olympic values in modern society. Its primary goal is to leverage sport as a tool to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

The Commission focuses on developing long-term strategies to address key sustainability issues through sport, including health, education, gender equality and inclusion. It also fosters partnerships to promote grassroots sports and the Olympic values globally.

Participation in Olympism365 provides Kazakhstan with unique opportunities such as adopting global best practices for developing inclusive and accessible sports, using sports to enhance social cohesion, health and equality, engaging in IOC projects and strengthening the country’s presence on the international stage.
