Uzbekistan Sports Minister visits sports facilities in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, December 2, 2024: Uzbekistan Sports Minister Adkham Ikramov and senior officials from the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, including OCA Vice President Otabek Umarov and Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, visited a number of sports facilities in Tashkent on Saturday, November  30.

The visit was to get a first-hand impression of the activities of a number of sports associations and the facilities available to each, and the conditions created for the athletes.

Sports School No 1 in Yakkasaray District and the Republican Training Centre for Olympic and Paralympic Sports, one of the most important facilities in the country, were visited.

The officials met with coaches and athletes of athletics, archery, boxing, handball, swimming, table tennis and karate and studied the conditions under which they train.

They also held a meeting with representatives from the sports federations and discussed how athletes were being prepared for international competition.

It was also suggested that an in-depth study of the pathway from secondary schools to national teams be undertaken.
