OCA Media Committee meets for the first time in new cycle

Manama, Bahrain, November 27, 2024: The OCA Media Committee held its first meeting of the new cycle on-line via Zoom on Wednesday, November 27.

The meeting was conducted by the new OCA Media Committee Chair, Mr. Faris Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

“I want to say that everyone’s opinion is highly valued and I am happy to hear all different opinions,” he said. “Media is a sector that is becoming more important than ever.”

The meeting was attended by the OCA Director General, Mr. Husain Al Musallam, and the Deputy Director General, Mr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari.

Captain Husain commented: “The Media Committee has new blood and new faces and I am sure there will be a lot of new ideas to complement the activities and the work of the Asian Games and the OCA.”

The agenda included discussions on several topics such as OCA branding, the OCA Digital Creators Programme, a “Blood, Tears and Sweat” (BTS) campaign, OCA Awards and OCA Social Guard.

The OCA Digital Creators Programme would involve social media influencers from various countries and regions and from a variety of fields, not only sports, to attend OCA games and extend the reach of the events in their respective regions.

The BTS campaign would feature behind-the-scenes video stories telling the struggle of athletes to reach the top, while the OCA Social Guard would be an AI-powered social media initiative to clamp down on abusive or other negative content against athletes.

All the points raised were for discussion only and will be further explored at the next meeting of the OCA Media Committee, planned in-person on the sidelines of the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China next February.
