Muscat, Oman, November 26, 2024: The National Olympic Committees of Oman and Belarus have signed a memorandum of cooperation targeting increased relations in the field of sports.
The signing ceremony in the headquarters of the Belarus NOC in the capital Minsk was attended by visiting Oman Olympic Committee President Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair and his counterpart from the Belarus NOC Viktor Lukashenko.
The two NOCs formalised a previously reached agreement on the development of bilateral cooperation in sports, and strengthening friendly relations in order to promote Olympic values and to develop high performance sports in both countries.
Sheikh Khalid, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome given to the Omani delegation, said: “We are very pleased to visit Belarus and have been looking forward to this visit. This cooperation is especially valuable and useful for us: you have a lot of experience and serious achievements in sports.”
Belarus NOC President Lukashenko said: “We are open to you with all our heart. We will show our sports capabilities and offer various options for further cooperation. We are opening a new page in the development of sports and sports relations between our countries.”
The main areas of cooperation will be through sports federations with the participation of athletes in bilateral and multi-sport competitions. Other aspects will include joint training camps, the exchange of coaches and other experts, interaction in children's and youth sports, participation in seminars and courses, sports medicine, marketing, and the organisation of sporting events.
