Chinese players dominate new table tennis world rankings

Beijing, China, November 7, 2024: Chinese players continued to claim the top four positions in the men's and women's singles events of the latest International Table Tennis Federation world rankings released on Tuesday, November 5.

 

China's Wang Chuqin (7,325 points) is the clear leader in the men’s rankings from Lin Shidong (5,620), Paris Olympic men’s singles champion Fan Zhendong (4,733) and Liang Jingkun (4,550).

 

On the women's side, Chinese players Sun Yingsha (10,800), Wang Manyu (6,865), Paris Olympic champion Chen Meng (5,750) and Wang Yidi (5,110) took up the top four places. 

 

Japan's Hina Hayata and Miwa Harimoto sat fifth and sixth, respectively. China's Chen Xingtong, Cheng I-Ching from Chinese Taipei and Japan's Mima Ito and Satsuki Odo rounded out the all-Asia top 10, marking the first time that 20-year-old Odo has broken into the world's top 10 in her career.

 

China won all five gold medals in table tennis at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games - men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s team and mixed doubles - and added one silver medal. 

 

Sweden was the next best with two silver medals followed by Japan in third place with one silver and one bronze.
