Philippines’ Paris 2024 bronze medallist Petecio receives ceremonial ring

Manila, Philippines, November 5, 2024: The Philippines’ Paris Olympic boxing bronze medallist Nesthy Petecio visited the Philippine Sports Commission HQ to receive a special prize for the Women in Sports Awards.

 

Petecio, 32, was welcomed by PSC Chairman Richard E. Bachmann, PSC Comm. Olivia “Bong” Coo and PSC Comm. Walter Francis Torres at the PSC HQ in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, where she was awarded a ceremonial ring.

 

She also received her share of the prize fund from the PSC Golf Invitational fund-raising event as she represented the country in Paris.

 

Petecio won a silver medal at Tokyo 2020, becoming the first Filipino woman to win an Olympic medal in boxing, and added a bronze medal in the women's flyweight (57kg) at Paris 2024.

 

She also won a silver medal at the 2014 World Championships and gold at the 2019 edition.

 

With two Olympic medals, Petecio is the first Filipino boxer to win multiple medals in the Olympic Games.
