Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 5, 2024: The United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee celebrated National Flag Day at its headquarters in Dubai last Friday, November 1.
A number of senior NOC officials - including Secretary General Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Executive Director Mohammed bin Darwish and Member of the Board of Directors Abdul Aziz Al-Salman - and other NOC staff participated in the flag-raising celebrations.
Secretary General Al Mutawa noted that Flag Day is a national initiative dear to the hearts of all citizens, including athletes who strive year round to reach first place on the podium so that the Emirates flag flies high in major sporting events.
Al Mutawa also lauded the role athletes play in representing the Emirates as proud ambassadors.
National Flag Day is usually marked on November 3 but, with the date falling on a Sunday this year, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, called on the public to fly the flag on Friday to ensure as many people as possible could support the event.
