Tashkent, Uzbekistan, October 30, 2024: A festive event to mark World Judo Day was held at the Tashkent City Mall with hundreds of young judokas participating on Monday, October 29.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov, the Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov, the Deputy Minister of Sports Shahrullo Mahmudov, the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Oybek Kasimov, the President of the Uzbekistan Judo Federation Azizjon Kamilov, and NOC Vice President Sherzod Tashmatov.
It was noted that judo is becoming one of the favourite sports among the youth of the country, boosted by the Paris 2024 Olympics gold medal victory of Diyora Keldiyorova, who is the first woman to win an Olympic gold medal for Uzbekistan.
Keldiyorova made an appearance during the celebrations and demonstrated a few moves to the young audience. She also donated the kimono she wore, to be auctioned off for charity.
