Tashkent, Uzbekistan, October 16, 2024: The Olympic Council of Asia’s “Transfer of Knowledge” policy was very much in evidence at the first Coordination Committee meeting for the 3rd Asian Youth Games Tashkent 2025 on October 15-16.

The OCA team, led by the Chair of the Coordination Committee, Mohammad Tayyab Ikram, included two delegates with every reason to witness the planning and preparations first-hand of a major multi-sport event.

They were OCA Vice President Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, who is Second Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and His Highness Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Al Saud, Chair of the OCA Education Committee and First Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

The connection is the OCA’s way at looking ahead to major games in the future, as Doha will host the 2030 Asian Games and Riyadh will follow as Asian Games host in 2034, as well as organising the next Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2026.

“My visit has been amazing,” said Prince Fahad.

“The hospitality…the people are so friendly…and the sports village is very nice. I am looking forward to the Asian Youth Games happening here next year.”

The delegates from Qatar and Saudi Arabia were among visitors to Olympic City on Wednesday morning. The city will include a 12,000-capacity main stadium, a water sports palace, velodrome, team sports hall and martial arts gymnasium and will be the hub of the AYG from September 7-17, 2025.

Construction work is expected to be completed by January, with test events scheduled for March.

The tour also took in the Central Asian University dormitory, accessible to Olympic City by a tunnel under the main road, and the Yunusabad Sports Complex which will host futsal during the AYG.
