Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 13, 2024: The National Sports Day (Hari Sukan Negara) 2024 was officially launched by the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, Y.B. Hannah Yeoh, on Saturday, October 12 at 7.00 am in Putrajaya.

Immediately after her speech, she flagged off the MADANI Fun Run and Walk - an event of Fit Malaysia with over 10,000 participants, serving as the main highlight of the 2024 National Sports Day Celebration.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia was represented by its Treasurer, Dato’ Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin, who was accompanied by the OCM General Manager, Mr. Fong Wan Hor.

“The National Sports Day, initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the second Saturday of October every year since 2015, aims to inculcate a sporting culture and making Malaysia as a sporting nation,” said Dato’ Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin.

“The concept of National Sports Day aligns with one of the 15 recommendations of the Olympic Agenda 2020+5, which is to enhance the engagement with all stakeholders, such as event organizers and local authorities, to promote the Road to the Olympic Games as well as the Olympic Movement.

“On behalf of the President of OCM and Vice President of OCA, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, I would like to congratulate and commend the Ministry of Youth and Sports, under the active leadership of Y.B. Hannah Yeoh, for continuing to promote the National Sports Day. This initiative also contributes to the promotion of the Olympic Movement in Malaysia.”
