Male, Maldives, October 13, 2024: The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of sports at a special ceremony held earlier this month in Riyadh.

The Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Raifu, signed on behalf of the Maldives while the Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, signed on behalf of Saudi Arabia.

The agreement will facilitate sports teams from both countries to visit each other, enhance direct communication between associations and clubs, teach sports medicine and anti-doping, and organising competitions and sporting events. In addition, both countries will exert collective efforts in investing in the sports industry.

Saudi Arabia has previously helped the Maldives in the development of sports with a number of national teams and clubs from the Maldives holding training camps in the Kingdom.
