OCA set to launch stage 3 of development programme for coaches and referees

Kuwait City, Kuwait, October 11, 2024: The Olympic Council of Asia is set to host Stage 3 of the OCA Development Programme for coaches and referees from East Asia and Southeast Asia in Malaysia next month.

 

The programme will cover the following four sports - Archery, Badminton, Table Tennis and Swimming – and will run from November 25-30.

 

The official hotel for all four sports will be The Pearl - Kuala Lumpur, 5th Mile, Jln Klang Lama 58000.

 

Each sport has specific criteria for registration that has been mutually agreed upon by the OCA and the respective International Federation, details of which have been sent to the OCA’s National Olympic Committees.

 

The OCA’s Special Projects/Olympic Solidarity Programmes Manager, Wissam Trkmani, commented: “In addition to the development programme, OCA will be organising workshops on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competition (PMC) involving representatives from the IOC, INTERPOL, FIBA and 10 officials from Law Enforcement Agencies in the Asian region. 

 

“This initiative aims to facilitate face-to-face exchanges of experiences on PMC, providing valuable insights and networking opportunities.

 

“Furthermore, for the safeguarding aspect, representatives from FIFA and IOC have been invited to contribute their expertise and insights.”

The OCA held the first stage of its development programme for coaches and referees from West Asia in Kuwait in March and June 2022 and the second stage for coaches and referees from Central Asia and South Asia in Uzbekistan in November 2022.

 

This third stage in Malaysia next month will complete the development programme for the OCA’s five zones.
