Alimzhan Akayev elected new Secretary General of Kazakhstan NOC

Astana, Kazakhstan, September 29, 2024: Alimzhan Akayev was elected as the new Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan at an Extraordinary General Assembly on Friday, September 27.

 

The meeting was held under the auspices of NOC President Gennadiy Golovkin. In attendance were Serik Zharasbayev, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, as well as presidents and representatives of 33 National Sports Federations.

 

“I would like to express my gratitude to all members of the General Assembly for their trust and support for the candidacy and election of Mr. Alimzhan Akayev, who was nominated by me. I am confident that his many years of experience and knowledge will help the NOC achieve its goals and objectives,” NOC President Golovkin said.

 

The new Secretary General, who was elected unopposed, headed the Department of International Relations of the NOC for seven years, and also served as advisor to the NOC President on international issues.
