Palestine Olympic Committee sends message of support to NOCs around the world

Ramallah, Palestine, March 17, 2020: The President of the Palestine Olympic Committee, Gen. Jibril Rajoub, has sent a message of solidarity to National Olympic Committees around the world in the fight against COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, the POC said: “COVID-19 will not defeat ‘a will to live’. The Palestinian people and its government affirm its support and solidarity with you. We pray for your safety.”

The post added: “With courage, patience and faith, we will challenge and control this vicious epidemic.”

Gen. Rajoub pointed out that the sports sector had taken a responsible decision to freeze activities until the end of the crisis in order to ensure the safety of athletes and the public – and that the virus would never defeat the will to live.

The POC President paid tribute to the efforts of their friends in the People's Republic of China who managed to reduce the spread of the epidemic and offer health care for people to recover.

“The virus has led to the cessation of national, continental and international sports activities in all sports, especially with some athletes whom the Palestinian Olympic Committee wishes recovery and safety,” the POC concluded.
