OCA to host ju-jitsu development programme for coaches and referees in Abu Dhabi

Kuwait City, Kuwait, September 26, 2024: The Olympic Council of Asia will conduct the first ju-jitsu development programme for coaches and referees in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this December.

 

In a circular to National Olympic Committees, OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam invited the NOCs to send two coaches (one male and one female) and two referees (one male and one female) to the OCA-Ju-Jitsu Asian Union camp, which will run from December 11-15, 2024.

 

“One of the OCA’s objectives is to promote the practice of sport, encourage and improve the standard of performance in the spirit of fair play,” the circular said.

 

“Coaches and referees play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives within Asian National Olympic Committees. Their dedication to fostering fair play, improving performance and contributing to societal development plays a crucial role in achieving these goals and building a positive legacy for future Asian generations.”

 

The programme will be held in conjunction with the Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Ju-Jitsu Championships, which will take place from December 13-15.

 

The ju-jitsu development programme will be conducted in the hall of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy, and participants will stay at the Erth Hotel, 

 

Arrival will be December 10, and departure on December 16. 

 

“This training is part of the Olympic Council of Asia’s Development Programme, with the goal of advancing the standard of Ju-Jitsu across Asia and elevating our sport to new heights,” the circular said.

“This initiative seeks to enhance the expertise of national federations by bringing together top-level professionals in Ju-Jitsu, adhering to Olympic guidelines and values.”

 

NOCs must register their participants by October 20, based on a series of requirements. The registration of female participants is mandatory, and no NOC will be allowed to register two male participants. The course will be conducted in English.

 

Requirements include that the coaches should be national team coaches and that priority will be given to referees holding at least a Continental B or A license.
