Harbin Ice and Snow World to host AWG Glory Square

Harbin, China, September 23, 2024: The famous Ice and Snow World in Harbin, China will be a focal point of the cultural programme of the 9th Asian Winter Games next February.

 

During the Chefs de Mission Seminar on Monday afternoon, organisers announced that they would establish the Asian Winter Games Glory Square in an area within the spectacular Ice and Snow World park.

 

The AWG Glory Square will feature “Moments of Glory” every day of the Games, which will run from February 7-14, 2025.

 

All medallists during the AWG will be invited to Glory Square, along with National Olympic Committee delegates, athletes and other participants.

 

While Glory Square will be the main attraction during the AWG, organisers are also planning to hold cultural events in the official hotels to showcase traditional Chinese culture and the unique styles of Heilongjiang province and Harbin city.

 

In other news from the afternoon session of the CDM Seminar:

*Medical services: 31 designated hospitals in 14 specialized categories. There will be 50 ambulances on standby and 54 ski doctors on duty during practice and competition.

*The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Harbin International Conference Centre, adjacent to the Athletes Hotel. The opening ceremony on February 7 will start at 8pm.

*Media Services: The Main Media Centre (International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre) in Harbin will be at the Harbin International Conference Centre. There will also be the MMC at Yabuli for the snow and mountain events. Trial opening, January 7-31. Operating from January 31-February 14.  Four media hotels in Harbin and four in Yabuli. Media accreditation: July 20-October 7.
