WBSC President Fraccari meets key sports officials during visit to Bhutan

Thimphu, Bhutan, September 22, 2024: The President of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation, Riccardo Fraccari, made a four-day visit to Bhutan. The official visit was facilitated by the Bhutan Olympic Committee and organised by the Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association.

 

Mr. Fraccari was accompanied by WBSC Chief Operating Officer Marco Lenna and Executive Assistant Victor Isola on the trip aimed to foster the growth of baseball, softball and baseball5 in Bhutan.

 

President Fraccari had the honour of being granted an audience with HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee and a member of the Olympic Council of Asia and the International Olympic Committee.

 

This key meeting underscored the commitment of Bhutan’s leadership to the development of sports. In addition, the WBSC delegation had the privilege of meeting the Hon. Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay where discussions centred on sports as a tool for national development and youth empowerment.

 

The WBSC delegation also met Ministry of Education officials and talks focused on the development of baseball, softball and baseball5 in Bhutanese schools.

 

The Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association also organised a coaching clinic for 130 under-18 students at the Dechencholing Higher Secondary School and the Royal Bodyguard.

 

President Fraccari praised the enthusiasm and potential of the participants and reaffirmed WBSC’s commitment to nurturing young talent in Bhutan.
