New Delhi, India, September 18, 2024: India’s men’s hockey team won the 2024 Asian Champions Trophy title, beating hosts China 1-0 in the final in Moqi on Tuesday, September 17.

“Congratulations to our Men’s hockey team on their incredible performance to win the Asian Champions Trophy. Defending our title and winning a 5th ACT,” the Indian Olympic Association posted on its website.

Defending champions India faced a tough contest as they struggled to break China’s strong defence for the first three quarters. China was playing in their first ACT final having stunned Pakistan in the semi-final.

The sole goal of the final came in the 51st minute when defender Jugraj Singh scored a field goal.

India previously won the ACT title in 2011, 2016, 2018 (joint champions with Pakistan) and 2021.

Pakistan claimed third place by defeating Korea 5-2 in the six-team competition.
