Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 17, 2024: The Athletes’ Commission of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee has looked at ways to increase support to the UAE NOC as well as enhancing the skills of athletes to cement the nation’s standing in major international events.

These discussions of the UAE NOC Athletes’ Commission took place last week through a video conference under the auspices of HE Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary General UAE NOC and Chair of the Athletes’ Commission.

During the meeting, the Commission addressed several key topics on the agenda, including its future roles as regards the challenges faced by athletes in the Emirates and creating a suitable environment for athletes to improve their performance and result.

Results of UAE athletes in Gulf, Asian and Olympic Games were reviewed, and plans were proposed to develop their performances in such competitions in the future.

The UAE NOC Secretary General affirmed the Athletes’ Commission was committed to standing by the athletes and listen to their views regarding the future of the Olympic Movement.

It was suggested to establish new structures to promote Olympic sports and to increase communication channels with the Athletes’ Commission of the IOC.

Al Mutawa also pointed out that the UAE NOC Athletes’ Commission was in the process of developing a series of programmes to scout and nurture talent in line with the National Sports Strategy 2031.
