Tehran, Iran, September 16, 2024: Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has proposed that Tehran host the next meeting of the Presidents of the National Olympic Committees of Central Asia.
The suggestion was made at the Olympic Council of Asia 44th General Assembly in New Delhi, India earlier this month.
At the General Assembly it was suggested that NOCs focus more on joint regional cooperation and holding periodical competitions.
The Iran NOC President said his country was ready and willing to host the next meeting of the Central Asian NOCs.
Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa also suggested that a central office for Central Asian NOCs be established in one country in the region so as to help coordinate matters.
The Central Asian NOCs are Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
