Hong Kong students reflect on Tianjin exchange programme experience

Hong Kong, China, September 15, 2024: A total of 31 secondary school students who participated in the “Youth Tianjin Exchange Programme” attended a sharing session at Olympic House on Saturday, September 14.

They shared videos they made during the visit to Tianjin in July to recall key moments, while reflecting on the things they learned.

The exchange programme was co-organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and the Federation of District Sports Associations of Hong Kong, and funded by the Youth Development Commission (YDC).

The participants, who were secondary two to four students, took part in the six-day, five-night exchange programme from July 22-27. They visited a number of sports facilities in Tianjin, such as Tianjin Tuanbo Sports Center, Volleyball Academy of Tianjin University of Sport and Tianjin Sports Museum. They also took part in a variety of sports experience sessions and an exchange session with a former gold medallist of the national team.

The delegation was headed by Mr. Kenneth Fok, Member of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Vice-President of SF&OC.

At the sharing session, Mr. Fok said: “The Exchange Programme was held again after five years, and I am pleased to serve as the head of the delegation visiting Tianjin with young people. I believe the visit enabled participants to learn more about the country’s sports development and its history, as well as have a deeper understanding on Olympism.

“With the Olympic values and sportsmanship that they learnt from the programme, I hope students will be able to rise to any challenges in their life.”

SF&OC would like to thank YDC for funding the programme and the Tianjin Overseas Friendship Association and Hong Kong Tianjin Youth Association for their support.
