Phnom Penh to host 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championships in October

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, September 3, 2024: The Asian Kickboxing Confederation will hold the 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championships in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from October 3-13.

 

The competition will be held in both Ring (full contact, low kick and K1) and Tatami disciplines (point fighting, light contact, kick light and musical forms).

 

The results of two disciplines – point fighting and K1 - will also be used as qualification for the World Combat Games Chengdu 2025.

 

Sina Zahedi, Secretary General of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation, said: “After the successful kickboxing competition at the 32 SEA Games in Cambodia in 2023, the Board of Directors of the Asian Confederation did not hesitate to adopt Phnom Penh and return this time to bring our athletes from other Asian zones to demonstrate their talent in this beautiful city of Phnom Penh.”

 

Organisers are expecting more than 20 countries and 400 athletes from the five zones in Asia.

 

Dr. Jeong Euncheon, Executive Committee member and Technical Director of the Asian Kickboxing Confederation, said; “As the sole recognised body of kickboxing in Asia, we have contributed significantly to the development of our sport across the continent by regularly holding this competition and many other events at the Asian Games promoted by the Olympic Council of Asia.”

 

The Asian Kickboxing Championships are held every two years. The 2022 event took place in Bangkok, Thailand.
