2024 Olympism Camp kicks off in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China, August 28, 2024: Organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the 2024 Olympism Camp kicked off on Tuesday, August 27.

A total of 90 secondary school students and athletes from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macao will take part in an array of activities during the three-day programme at the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp.

The Olympism Camp is one of the key events organised by SF&OC to promote Olympism. Inaugurated in 2013, the Olympism Camp aims at deepening young people’s understanding on Olympism, encouraging them to practise these values in their daily lives and thereby bringing about a positive impact to society.

The programme includes sports experience sessions featuring martial arts, skateboarding and fencing. Minnie Soo Wai-yam, who won a bronze medal in the table tennis women’s team event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will share her training and competition experiences with participants to convey positive values and the spirit of Olympism.

As the 15th National Games will be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao next year, the programme will feature a seminar introducing the history of the National Games.

Mr Paul Cheng, Deputy Head of the National Games Coordination Office, will attend the seminar to share the preparation work and progress for the National Games. Participants will also take part in a variety of activities, such as life skills training, team building exercises and city hunt games to learn more about Olympic values.
