Tehran, Iran, August 27, 2024: The National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran held its first coordination meeting for the LA28 Olympics at the NOC Headquarters in Tehran last week.
The meeting was held under the auspices of NOC President Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa and NOC Secretary General Dr. Seyed Manaf Hashemi and focused on setting up an agenda to qualify athletes for LA 28.
The meeting began with a review of the performance of the Iranian delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and looking at ways to overcome any perceived shortcomings.
In this meeting, the preliminary programme of the Iranian delegation that will participate at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan was also considered. It was decided that sports should consider putting forward strong representations for the next Asian Games with LA28 in mind.
All decisions taken at this meeting will be presented to the Executive Board of the Iran NOC for discussion and, following approval, implementation.
