Tehran, Iran, August 22, 2024: Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has expressed his gratitude to the country’s athletes who participated at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In a message to the Iranian sporting delegation, Ayatollah Khamenei stated: “I would like to sincerely appreciate our dear, spirited, dedicated athletes, heads of sports federations and coaches and the National Olympic Committee for bringing joy and honour to the country in the field of sports during the recent competitions,”
Iran won a total of 12 medals – three gold, six silver and three bronze –to finish 21st in the overall standings and be the fifth- placed NOC from Asia behind China, Japan, Korea and Uzbekistan.
All of Iran’s medals came in wrestling and taekwondo.
