Amman, Jordan, August 19, 2024: The Jordan Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Education successfully concluded a Basic Motor Skills course for physical education teachers last Thursday, August 15.
The course held over a fortnight was part of the physical culture programme of the Jordan Olympic Academy – the educational arm of the Jordan Olympic Committee – and was attended by 50 male and female PE teachers.
The course aimed at teaching participants how to deliver fundamental motor skills to teachers who work directly with children in nursery and primary schools.
The course was licensed by the Canadian Coaches Association and conducted by lecturer Wayne Barrow.
The physical culture programme is part of the JOC’s plan to adopt a long-term athlete development model to develop the sports system.
Basic motor skills are important for children’s physical development and give them the opportunity to gain competence and confidence, and enjoy sports and physical activities.
