Pakistan hero Arshad Nadeem to receive national award - and postage stamp honour

Lahore, Pakistan, August 15, 2024: President Asif Ali Zardari announced on Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day on Wednesday, August 14, that Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem would be given a national award.

 

The President of Pakistan announced the conferment of national awards to 104 Pakistanis and foreigners in recognition of their services, excellence and sacrifices in their respective fields.

 

Nadeem, who set an Olympic record on his way to winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin at Paris 2024, will receive the Hilal-i-Imtiaz award in the sports category. The investiture ceremony will be on Pakistan Day, on March 23, 2025.

 

“Arshad Nadeem has made the country proud in the field of sports with his excellent performance,” the President said.

 

Separately, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced the issuance of a special postage stamp to honour Nadeem and to commemorate the nation’s struggle for freedom and its achievements on the occasion of Independence Day.
