Kyrgyzstan medal winners in Paris Olympics receive car and cash prizes

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, August 14, 2024: The Kyrgyzstan delegation that participated at the Paris Olympics returned home to a grand welcome in Bishkek which ended with the keys to brand new cars being presented to medal winners.

 

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Altynbek Maksutov and Secretary of State Suyunbek Kasmambetov were the government dignitaries present to greet the team along with fans and relatives of the athletes.

 

The Paris Olympics was the most successful in the history of Kyrgyzstan with the country winning two silver medals and four bronze. The silver medals were won by Meerim Zhumanazarova in the women’s freestyle wrestling 68kg category and boxer Munarbek Seiitbek Uulu in the men’s 57kg class. All four bronze medals came in wrestling.

 

Following the ceremony at the airport, the athletes were driven in a motorcade to Government House where they met President Sadyr Zhaparov.

 

All medal winners received cash grants as well as a car from the Kyrgyzstan government.
