Manama, Bahrain, August 12, 2024: The Bahrain Olympic Committee is celebrating the Kingdom’s best-ever finish in the history of the Olympics, ranking first among Arab nations, sixth in Asia and 33rd globally.
Bahrain won two gold medals, a silver and a bronze in Paris, resulting in the BOC posting a congratulatory message on its Instagram page: “Congratulations to the Bahrain team for the historic achievement.”
The BOC added: “This marks a significant leap from previous Olympic performances, where Bahrain was ranked 77th at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, 48th at Rio 2016 and 50th at London 2012.”
Bahrain’s two gold medals came in athletics, where Winfred Yavi won the women’s 3000m steeplechase, and in wrestling with Akhmed Tazhudinov winning the top prize in the men’s Freestyle 97kg category.
Salwa Eid Naser won the silver medal in the women’s 400m in athletics while the bronze medal was won by Gor Minasyan in the men’s +102kg in weightlifting.
