China tops Olympic shooting medal table with five golds

Paris, France, August 6, 2024: China topped the shooting medal table for the second successive Olympic Games after 10 days of duels at Chateauroux Shooting Centre ended on Monday, August 5.

 

Sheng Lihao, three years after becoming the youngest Olympic shooting medallist at Tokyo 2020, led the way with two of China's five golds - one in the men's 10m air rifle and the other with Huang Yuting in the 10m air rifle mixed team.

 

In all, China won 10 medals, four clear of Korea with six, three of them gold, while 19 different NOCs won medals.

 

Other highlights included: 

*Ban Hyojin (KOR), 16, outgunned 17-year-old Huang of China in an epic shoot-off for gold in the women's 10m air rifle, while Oh Ye Jin (KOR), 19, won gold in the women’s 10m air pistol.

 

*India finished the shooting competition with three bronze medals, two of them for Manu Bhaker in the women’s 10m air pistol and in the 10m air pistol mixed team with Sarabjot Singh.
