Paris, France, August 2, 2024: Korea went 3-for-3 in the archery competition of Paris 2024 at Invalides on Friday afternoon.

After winning gold in both the women’s and men’s team events earlier in the week, Korea added a third gold in mixed team – defending the gold medal from Tokyo 2020.

Lim Si-hyeon, a three-time champion at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, partnered with Kim Woo-jin to beat Germany 6-0 in the final. Both Korean archers now have two gold medals in Paris, with the individual men’s and women’s events still to come.

In the final, against Germany’s Michelle Kroppen and Florian Unruh, the Koreans won the first set 38-35, including three 10s in their four arrows.

Korea shot just one 10 in the second round but still won 36-35 to lead 4-0 in set points, and wrapped up the contest 36-35 in the third, even though the Germans scored two 10s from their four arrows.

Lim was full of praise for her teammate Kim. “I have been on this team for two years, and Kim Woo-jin is a really hard worker. He is really not complacent. That’s his greatest strength. I thought to myself, ‘I should become an athlete like him'," Lim commented.

Kim became the first male Korean archer to win four Olympic gold medals. “I am part of history, so I am proud,” he said.

“I am not planning on retiring anytime soon. I am going to do my best in the future as well.”

Talking about his own game, Kim added: “The best thing I have is consistency. When I started winning, I did not become complacent. I did not become too proud. I let the past be past, and I moved forward.”

The United States beat India 6-2 in the bronze medal play-off after Korea had defeated India 6-2 in the semi-finals. The Indian mixed team was Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara.
