Paris, France, August 1, 2024: OCA Vice President Otabek Umarov has congratulated Uzbek judoka Muzaffarbek Turoboyev for winning his country’s second medal of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Turoboyev defeated Nikoloz Sherazadishvili of Spain in the play-off for one of two bronze medals in the men’s -100kg with two waza-ari scores for ippon at the Champ-de-Mars Arena on Thursday, August 1.
The 24-year-old judoka, who won the IJF World Championship in Tashkent in 2022, won two matches to reach the semi-finals but lost 1-0 to Azerbaijan’s Zelym Kotsoiev.
Otabek posted: “The second success of our Olympic delegation. Muzaffarbek Turoboyev is a bronze medallist of the Paris Games.
“An important milestone for the domestic judo school and a great joy for the fans of Uzbekistan. Our congratulations to Muzaffarbek.”
Uzbekistan had earlier won judo gold through Diyora Keldiyorova in the women’s -52kg class.
