Paris, France, August 1, 2024: HRH Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, was full of praise for Jordanian boxer Ziad Eshaish who qualified for the quarterfinals in the men’s -71kg category at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday, July 31.
Prince Faisal watched as Ziad, appearing in his second Olympic Games, defeated Japan’s Sewon Okazawa, gold medallist at the Hangzhou Asian Games, in the last-16 encounter to move into the quarterfinals.
Prince Faisal, who is a member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee, was accompanied by IOC President Thomas Bach.
Prince Faisal expressed his pride in the performance of light middleweight fighter Ziad who has been in fine form in Paris having defeated world champion Aslanbek Shymbergenov of Kazakhstan in the round of 32.
In the last-eight encounter on Saturday, August 3, Ziad will meet the winner of the bout between Britain’s Lewis Richardson and Serbian Vakhid Abbasov.
