Asian NOCs provide four of top 10 in medals table after four days of Paris 2024

Paris, France, July 31, 2024: The medals table at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is looking good for Asia after four days of competition.

 

Asian National Olympic Committees occupy the top two spots in the table and comprise three of the top five and four of the top 10.

 

Elsewhere, two Central Asian NOCs have already won gold, and there are plenty more silver and bronze medals for Asian NOCs among the 43 NOCs with at least one medal.

 

Japan are leading the way with seven gold, along with two silver and four bronze for a total of 13 medals. The seven gold have come in judo (3), skateboarding (2), fencing and artistic gymnastics.

 

China are second with six gold, six silver and two bronze for 14 total medals. The six gold have come in shooting (3), diving (2) and table tennis.

 

Korea are in fifth place with 5-3-3 (11) and gold medals in archery (2), shooting (2) and fencing.

 

Hong Kong, China are 10th with two gold medals in fencing, plus a swimming bronze, for three total medals, while Kazakhstan (1-0-2) are joint 12th and Uzbekistan (1-0-0) joint 16th. Judo provided both gold medals for the two Central Asian powers.

 

Mongolia (0-1-0) and DPR Korea (0-1-0) are tied for 28th place, while India are tied for 33rd with two bronze medals in shooting.

 

Tajikistan are tied for 35th with one bronze medal in judo.
